Lacuna Method™ – Fungal Nail Treatment
Fungal nail infections are extremely common, often causing nails to become thick, brittle, discoloured, and uncomfortable. They may affect one nail or spread to several, and are caused by the same fungi responsible for Athlete’s Foot.
How the Lacuna Method™ works:
This innovative treatment involves creating tiny, painless micro-holes in the nail plate. Through these holes, an antifungal spray (Lamisil) can penetrate directly to the nail bed – the true source of infection – where standard topical treatments cannot reach.
What to expect:
-
Assessment: An initial consultation is required to confirm suitability.
-
Treatment: Each session takes around 30 minutes. Micro-holes are drilled as needed, and nails are trimmed to prevent reinfection.
-
Aftercare: Daily application of Lamisil spray at home, with review appointments every 6 weeks. Additional holes may be added depending on progress.
As toenails grow slowly, treatment typically takes 6–12 months for healthy nail to fully replace the damaged area. The holes grow out naturally with the nail.
